H.P. Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. Shimla came into existence on 27th August, 2008 as a part of unbundling of erst while HPSEB and was conferred the status of State Transmission Utility in the year 2010.
It has been entrusted the work of formulation/updating and Execution of Transmission Master Plan of the State for strengthening of Transmission Network and Evacuation of Power from upcoming HEPs.
Power System Master Plan for H.P. was finalized in the year 2011. Govt. of India has allocated $ 350 Million MFF of ADB loan for implementation of Power system master plan in a time bound manner. This loan shall fund construction of about 456 circuit Kms of transmission lines along with 13 sub stations of 2284 MVA capacity with 66 kV and above voltage level.
In addition, work on 6 sub stations and 200 circuit Km of transmission lines is planned to be taken up with funds amounting to Rs. 746 Crore approved under Green Energy Corridor Scheme of Govt. of India with financing as 40% loan from KfW bank , 40% NCEF Grant and 20% equity.
HPPTCL is committed to add up about 780 circuit Kms and 3500 MVA capacity to state transmission network by the year 2020. This infrastructure shall facilitate evacuation of about 3500 MW power from various remotely located HEPs upto Key load centers and CTU injection Points.
